The Anticipation to get to France

I know it’s only been a couple of days since I wrote up about my hopes to get to France by the end of the year, but I’m really excited about it!! For years I’ve been saying “I’d love to go to France” and “I’d love to go to England” but I haven’t really done anything about it: I haven’t really been in a situation where I would be able to afford it, etc. Or at least, I’ve never been in a situation where I was prepared to try.

That has now changed. My situation, and my though processes. I am definately applying myself to get to France & England this time next year. My Ultimate hope is October 21st, flying out from Adelaide International Airport on my way to France via Singapore- but that isn’t confirmed. Worst comes to worst, I continue to save until my lease runs out on December 1st, then I go shack it up with my grandparents a bit so I’m not paying the $300+ in rent, so I can power-save for a month or so, and get my butt over to France.

Either way, very very excited! I’ve been looking around on some websites at what’s in store over there and I can’t wait! I’ve already got my passport paperwork and stuff that I need. Now need to think about visas etc. The big decision that I need to decide is

Backpack France & England

or

Back France, Live in England

Pretty much, the two choices I have are clear: Backpack around both countries for up to 3 months (I think) then head back to Australia & do what I need to do.

Alternatively, I can backpack around france for 3-4 weeks, then head over to England to live & work for up to 24 months. I would absolutely LOVE to do this, but I don’t know…. What’s holding me back? Absolutely nothing really (except money & visa’s…) so why not? Again, no reason! So I might just do this!

Currently, to get me to my goal the first step on the path is to get the budget worked out: Not the budget of while I’m away but the one to how I’m going to save. To save that much money I’ll need to be doing some power saving. Increasing income wouldn’t be bad thing either.

In my role at Internode I work anytime between 7.30am to 10.30pm 7 days a week. This isn’t set & isn’t very good! So, I’ve been thinking that I move back to my old role (if it is still available) which is a little more structured: It’s working anytime between 8am and 6pm, Mon-Fri. By doing this, I could also get a second job for Sat/Sun or after Internode-Work (such as night packing at Woolies or Big-W. By doing this, I could be adding $x amount from Internode, but also $x amount from 2nd job: possibly saving twice as much in the same time frame. This seems the logical thing to do. Sure, I’ll miss out on weekends, etc. But hey: I’ll be on holiys overseas for weeks. Nothing beats that.

I feel a little guilty moving back to Accounts though. Internode have invested a fair bit into me to come to this department- but I do need to think about my future, in which I want to travel.

This also means that I’ll be giving up my current on-the-job learning of Certificate 4 in Business Management. I don’t really mind. Its not helping me, and I’m not getting anything from it from what I can see. I might send that email off today!

Ah well. Just over 9 months until my hopeful departure. 9 months of blogging about it :) Status reports to come!!!
