It was a fairly weird dream. Very vivid, very strange. It started off that we were on a television show; a reality show where we had to come up with the best type of music. I suppose somewhat like Australian Idol, but instead of singing we were coming up with the actual music & film clips.
There was one gay in our group who had this idea that we go to this tiny little island off the north eastern shore of QUeensland. The island was very small, probably about 5kms across at its widest part. The island though, was made from active volcanoes. They were sitting there simmering away, rock pools of water steamed up into the sky as we got there.
The reason he had come to this island was to sign a song about Rainbows. In the shallow water of the beach, the volcanoes would spew ouit different coloured sand & rubble from tiny pores in the sand. The result was a multicoloured- rainbow- streak running down the beach. We traipsed along, feet in the water, imaging the film clip that would accompany our song.
We broke for lunch & we went off in smaller groups to explore the island. Not a single person was on this island. There were no roads, no houses- nothing. Just pure, untouched wilderness.
A friend & I came across some high rocks, and as we climbed up them, the island began to shake & shudder. It seemed like an earth quake big enough to dislodge some big boulders & rocks which came tumbling down.
The shakes came in flows- getting worse, then dying down suddenly. Soon, we were flinging our arms over the ledge of the top rock we were climbing. It opened up into a nice big alcove, where at the back there was an opening. Making our way back to this opening, we were absolutely amazed.
We were over looking a giant lake, down in the middle of a huge canyon. This water must have been almost boiling hot, as we could barely see the water in some spots because of steam.
As we stood there in the cave, the ground began to tremble worse than it had before. I looked back towards our exit and saw the old man standing there. He wasn’t move, just standing and staring. I looked back towards the giant lake, and all around the opening. It must have been a kilometre wide, easily. & then I realised.
This wasn’t just a lake, or just an opening. This was the volcanoes opening. Where the lava would soon be spilling out if the volcanoe blew.
Again, the ground shook harder and harder. This time, it didn’t subside. The water down in the lake began hissing & swirling. We could smell sulfur in the air.
My friend grabbed my hand, and we ran out the exit, past the old man who as stills standing there. As we ran back down towards the beach, rocks kept falling down and we were stumbling as we went along.
& then I woke up.
